Gold always inflates with new expansions, but with WotLK, if you are there at the right time you can be on the upswing of that inflation. The exact number hasn’t been set as new patches are on the way after the expansion hits, but there are more than a dozen already available with incredibly complex and intricate new encounters – we’re talking about fun new stuff here folks. A good amount of the buzz has been positive, but there have been a lot of reviews that have questioned the validity of the guide and whether or not the thing is legit. I wanted to go ahead and put my experience forward as a voice for the guide in a truthful review of what you really get in WotLK Secrets. The Content The guide content is pretty impressive. WotLK Secrets was the name of the new guide and it was reported to be a complete guide that covered everything that would be in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack when it hit on November 13th. I was intrigued because I had not done nearly as much research and studying of the pack as I would have liked (didn’t make it into beta L), so I sat down to peruse what I thought was going to be a quick and easy to read guide. Three days and 250 pages later I realized that it was anything but a short guide and I had spent the better part of three nights reading it. Of course I won’t complain even in the slightest because I felt like I had learned just about everything I could possibly learn short of the exact leveling paths in Northrend that I would need to stomp everyone in sight when I got into the new content. If you haven’t seen or heard about WotLK Secrets yet, trust me – it is one heck of a guide. It’s pretty much a complete guide for anyone that needs a primer on anything to do with WotLk and it comes with full strategies for mastering new raids, instances, and professions as well as full listings of everything you’ll encounter, need to do, and probably be stuck at. The Internet has been abuzz for the last few weeks about the coming of a major WotLK product and it hasn’t even been the new expansion pack itself. No, the real buzz has been behind the biggest new guide product of the year and the guy behind it, T Dub. I have been playing Wrath of the Lich King for a little while now and a few people asked me to give my impressions. While I’ll save the details of my journeys for longer posts, I wanted to toss out a tool I’ve been using to help in said journey and a few comments on why it has been so useful to me thus far. When you get started in Northrend, the breadth of content is pretty large. You have two starting zones to choose from with more than 130 quests each for each faction and a whole lot of different reputation factions, tons of new instances, and a whole lot of new professions, gold grinding spots, and even an option to go back north to the classic continents of WoW and start a Death Knight. If you haven’t played yet, trust me when I say that you will be overwhelmed when you first set foot into the new content. So, what does my tool have to do with all that? Well, what I’m talking about is WotLK Secrets. You may have heard about it already – a lot of people are talking about it because it’s been incredibly helpful to a lot of players. Basically, it’s a complete starters guide to Northrend and all things WotLK with in depth strategies, secrets about the game and everything you need to know about every ounce of new content. Trust me when I say I’m not overstating anything here – this guide truly does cover every bit of the new expansion with more than 240 pages of detail on what you’re going to see and do. And when I was just getting started, it helped me not only figure out where I was going and what I was doing – it showed me what I needed to go back and redo and what I was skimping on. How many hours have you put into WotLK yet? Did you make it into the beta? Do you know everything there is to know about the game yet? The answers to these questions are likely very few, no, and not quite. For those reasons, you need to know about a little guide I’ve been playing around with for the past few days entitled WotLK Secrets. Personally, I’m not a fan of game guides. I don’t think they do much other than ruin the content for you before you get there. So, I was surprised when I discovered that WotLK Secrets was anything but a big spoiler filled, fluff ridden guide that didn’t do much other than make the game less fun. Think of it more like a GPS device on a road trip. It gives you directions and guidance when you ask it to without telling you everything you’re about to see. To start with, the guide covers all the basic aspects of the game’s new content. You will learn how to start a Death Knight, how to master Inscription, what you will face in all the new raids, all the new glyphs you have access to, ins and outs of the new achievement system, the changes to your classes, and whole lot more really nifty, really useful new details. If you need things like raid specific strategies such as how to take on Malygos in his second or third form, the info is here for you. If you need to know what the best level 40 Glyph is for your Druid, you can look it up right here. It’s really been an invaluable resource for me as I’ve leveled and that’s saying a lot from someone who doesn’t usually like guides very much.
